Sastrines is the deity of the forests, green hills, rivers and lakes, plants and animals of Albion, and looks kindly on those who respect the land itself and recognise its importance.
Those who till the soil, tend the flocks and fish the streams are obviously people who look to Sastrines for guidance. However, nature is much more than farming and affects all aspects of life. A miner, a sailor and a washerperson may all give praises to Sastrines for a rich ore seam, a favourable wind or warm sunny day. Many see Sastrines as a symbol of Albion itself and a parent figure for the people.
The temples and churches of Sastrines are perhaps the most varied of all the Gods. Simple, rustic shrines can be found in forest clearings or near good hunting grounds. Many towns have tithe halls where the harvest is taken in thanks, as well as small churches devoted to all manner of professions and trades. Priests devoted to Sastrines might oversee and advise on the sowing of crops, the tending of animals and the time to harvest. Other priests of Sastrines may be mystics who predict the weather, guides and explorers, or even cattle herders who lead blessed bulls across the countryside to minister to the village herds.
Sastrines is also known for their generosity. For as long as the people of Albion take no more than they need, the land will provide and no individual should hunger through the greed of another. Many priests of Sastrines are known to gift food to the less fortunate, or hold gatherings where the people of Albion may come together to eat and share their bounty. These occasions can often be merry affairs with laughter and music, where all are welcome to partake so long as they are generous themselves.
Although often portrayed as a peaceful deity of life, it must be remembered that Sastrines is the most wild and untamed of Albion's deities much like nature itself. Necessary destruction is a part of the cycle of rebirth and growth, and Sastrines knows this well. The undead are an abomination upon the land in the eyes of Sastrines, and will not be tolerated on Albion soil lest they defile it with unnatural death.
In times of battle, Avatars of Sastrines are depicted as wielding an axe, laying low the foes of Albion with the very land itself as ally.
